It Works

I bought this scanner to replace an older Canon stand alone scanner that just stopped working one day. After trying in vain to find a new driver for the old scanner, I read the reviews here on Amazon and bought this unit. It was so cheap I figured what the heck.
And I'm glad I did. I had it set up in a matter of minutes. The scanner works fairly fast and automatically straightens and frames the picture for you. If you want the picture to open up in Photoshop, you can set it for that as well. It works great. |
Decent quality, but only for FLAT NON-reflective surface

Scan quality on this machine is not bad, but ONLY if the object you are scanning is totally flat and non-reflective. Objects that are even 1/5th of an inch off the surface will appear rather blurry, and anything reflective will leave streaks in the scan due to the CIS scan head. Otherwise, scanning speed was quick at 300 dpi, but 600 was another story.
Only buy this scanner if all you scan are totally flat objects with no recess (like documents or photos), otherwise get a CCD scanner with cold cathode light source or else you'll be disappointed. |
Great for the price

I'm sure it could be faster and have more bells and whistles, but I was looking for a basic cheap scanner that would scan things, and that's what I got.
Windows 7 installation was pretty straightforward. Note that I had to actually follow the directions it came with, and install the driver from the CD, and not use the driver Windows found for me. |
Great scanner for the value!
